***Important information to note:
This is a handmade item - made right on salt spring island. Each piece will vary slightly from one another, making each one unique. Just like you!
Please allow up to 5 business days before your order ships. Sometimes we have to make your new jewel from scratch and this can take a couple of days. Thank you for your patience and choosing handmade.
*All our jewelry comes in branded jewelry boxes. If you purchase more than one item they will all be shipped together in one box, unless specified. Please make a note when purchasing that you’d like separate boxes if they are for gifts.
Gold filled pieces will show some solder joints. Unfortunately these can not be filed down, otherwise the base metal underneath will show. If you'd like to learn more please check out our material guide below.
What is gold filled? Gold filled consists of a base metal (usually brass, which is a mixture of copper and zinc) bonded with a layer of karate gold over top. Gold filled is legally required to contain 5% or 1/20 gold by weight. All the gold filled jewelry that we carry is 14k yellow gold filled, with the exception of our 12k gold filled beaded bracelets. Meaning, all the gold that is bonded was 14k solid gold to begin with. This can be described as either 14/20 gold filled, or 14k gold filled. Please see the diagram below to get a better idea of what we mean. Also note that it isn’t to scale, just an example to explain the idea.
If I have sensitive ears can I wear gold filled? Yes, most of the time. If you have sensitive ears gold filled is a great alternative to gold. We would say 99% of our customers with sensitivities are able to wear our gold filled. We use 8k and 10k solder to solder our posts onto our earrings which helps add an extra coat of gold to any exposed metal so you aren’t being exposed to the base metal.
Does your jewelry contain nickel? No, all our jewelry is nickel free. Which makes it great for people with sensitivities. All our earrings are hypoallergenic.
What is the difference between gold filled and gold plated? Gold filled has almost 100 times more gold than gold plated jewelry. Gold filled is much more durable and will not chip away like gold plated does. The gold on gold plated jewelry will chip off and rub away over time. Gold filled does not do this.
What is the difference between 10k and 14k solid gold? 10k gold contains 41.7% pure gold and 14k contains 58.3% pure gold. 10k gold is stronger than 14k gold. Other metals have been added to pure gold to strengthen it.
What is the difference between white, yellow, and rose gold? Pure gold is pure yellow. Other alloys are mixed with gold to change its colour and strength. White gold usually contains 25% nickel and zinc. To make rose gold copper is added.
Will this jewelry leave green marks on my skin?On very rare occasions gold, gold filled, and sterling silver can leave green marks on the skin. This is not because the quality is low, it’s because the alloy added to these metals can sometimes discolour the skin, usually because of the copper that is added. Everyone is different and everyone reacts to metals differently. Sometimes moisture, sweat, and lotions can cause a reaction to the metals and turn your skin green.
Why don’t you make everything in rose gold? We choose not to solder rose gold because all the solder, the metal used to fuse two pieces together, contains cadmium. Cadmium is a carcinogen similar to lead which has been linked to cancer, damage to the lungs and kidneys and weaken bones. We choose not to solder with cadmium as the fumes are toxic.
How do I care for my jewelry? Keep your jewelry in a box or bag to keep it at its best. If your jewelry does need a cleaning you can use the polishing cloth provided, or gently scrub your jewelry with dish soap, water, and a soft toothbrush. Please steer clear of applying moisturizers and lotions when wearing rings, bracelets, and necklaces. It is best to refrain from wearing jewelry while bathing and swimming.

| ring sizing |
You have a couple options for figuring out your ring size:
- You can go to a jeweller or jewelry store and get your finger sized
- Purchase a ring sizer from us
- OR measure the inside diameter of one of the rings you already own and use this chart to determine its size
*Please make sure you measure correctly. We are only responsible for sending you the ring in the size you provide us. With thin band rings if your ring is too big it can bend and warp. It is easier to make a ring slightly bigger, so if in doubt order it a bit small and a re-size will only cost you the price of shipping.

| necklace sizing |
We have multiple necklace lengths to choose from. Please note that necklaces will sit differently from person to person depending on the size of their neck. This can sometimes be misleading in model photos.
The best way to find out what length you'd like is to measure it. Take a string and measure that against a ruler, or use a measuring tape. We offer multiple sizes so you can create a layering look choosing multiple lengths.
If you're buying a gift our 18 inch necklace is a great "one size fits most" length.
